About a dozen Democrats took over Republican seats in the Texas house last week.

But the GOP still controls the chamber.

The first order of business going into the new legislative session will be to pick a new speaker, after the retirement of Joe Straus.

State Rep. Dennis Bonnen is throwing his hat into the mix saying he has a lot of support.
