Boil water notice

Why you should care:

The city emphasized that the boil notice was issued "out of an abundance of caution" following a temporary drop in system pressure.

Full city statement:

"The City of Lago Vista has issued a Boil Water Notice out of abundance of caution following a temporary loss of pressure within the municipal water distribution system and, per state regulations, a public notice is required at this time. Until further notice, all customers should boil their water prior to consumption, including for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing food. To ensure safety, bring water to a vigorous boil for at least two minutes before use. We will lift this notice as soon as test results confirm the water is safe to drink. Updates will be provided through official City communication channels."

Public Works crews quickly restored pressure after the outage, but state law requires testing before the notice can be lifted. City staff collected water samples Monday, which were sent to a state-approved lab for analysis.

What you can do:

Residents in the affected area must boil all water used for:

  • Drinking
  • Cooking
  • Making ice
  • Brushing teeth
  • Washing food

Water should be brought to a vigorous boil for at least two minutes before use. The city will lift the notice once lab results confirm the water is safe.
