Lightning bolt strikes Buda woman's home
BUDA, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - A lightning bolt struck a woman’s home Wednesday afternoon in Buda, causing major damage.
Luckily nobody was home and authorities were able to get her pets out safely as well. This event was a product of that huge storm system moving across Central Texas.
A neighbor says she saw the lightning strike as soon as she walked out her door.
"All the neighbors that came out said that electricity went through their bodies at that time," said Paula Gagnon. "One of our neighbors said she was on her phone and she actually threw her phone across the room and felt the current go through her body."
Despite her home being damaged severely, the homeowner remained in good spirits as firefighters worked on her house.
Hays County officials say there were no water rescues today but they still discourage traveling because of saturated soil.
