Man hit, killed by train in Central Austin

The Austin Police Department is investigating after a man was hit by a train in Central Austin. 

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 near West Anderson Lane and MoPac. According to ATCEMS, a man in his forties was found dead near the tracks. 

It is unclear at this time why a person was on the tracks when the train was in the area. 

The Amtrak train involved in the incident, which was carrying 122 passengers, was en route from Chicago, Illinois to Las Angeles, Califorinia. No other injuries were reported. 

The identity of the man has not been released at this time.
