Many George Strait fans fuming after tickets go quickly for Fort Worth concert

Fans of George Strait were fuming on Friday after many weren’t able to buy tickets to the country music legend’s 2019 Fort Worth concert.
The performance at the soon-to-be-opened 14,000 seat Dickies Arena in Fort Worth generated massive publicity and interest when it was announced a few weeks ago. But the online Ticketmaster sale on Friday didn’t go well, according to an outcry of people on social media.
According to numerous posts online, fans were placed into a waiting room or “line” when they logged in Friday morning. Some people posted photos showing “2,000+ people in front of you” in the Ticketmaster system.
It appears that scalpers were able to get their hands on some of the tickets early. While some fans did get tickets, by the time most people made it through the queue they only found Ticketmaster re-sale tickets (AKA verified third-party ticket re-sellers). The prices they were asking for were more than at least quadruple the face value of the ticket, and often much more. Face value of the concert tickets ranged from $19.82 to $250 each.
“Its truly sad that ticket scalping is a huge business. Fans without tons of money miss out. I can’t afford $750 a ticket,” one Twitter user said.
Officials at Dickies Arena said the show sold out within 30 minutes of tickets going on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Some fans called for additional shows to be added, but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards at the moment.
“While we would love to have George Strait perform multiple nights, at this time, we only have plans for one performance,” said a Dickies Arena spokeswoman.
Strait’s concert will take place on Nov. 22, 2019.
