One person dies after shooting in Central Austin

UPDATE: The security guard, Jasmine Adams, has been fired, but she says there's a silver lining.

Austin police are investigating a shooting in Central Austin that left one person dead and another person seriously hurt.

Officers responded to the 5800 block of North Interstate 35 Frontage Road at just before 4 a.m. The incident happened, officials say, outside the La Quinta Inn.

When officers arrived they found a Hispanic male and a black male with multiple gunshot wounds. Both were taken to Dell Seton Medical Center where the Hispanic male was pronounced dead about an hour later.

The identity of the person who died has not been released. The only detail is that he was a 38-year-old.

APD says through its investigation and witness statements it learned that the suspect left the scene of the shooting in a black Dodge Charger. The vechicle was later found abandoned at East Riverside Drive.

A security guard in the area of the shooting described what she saw and experienced.
