Pedestrian killed after being hit by a car in North Austin

AUSTIN, Texas - A man in his 50s was killed after he was hit by a car in North Austin. 

The accident happened at the intersection of Cameron Road and East St Johns Avenue around 10 p.m. on Thursday, October 3. The man was declared dead at the scene, according to first responders with Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services. 

Officers stopped after a crowd had gathered at the site of the incident and found a Hispanic man laying in the road.

Police say the victim was wearing dark clothes and tried to cross Cameron Road in an area with no lights or a crosswalk.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the man stayed on scene.
