Procession for STAR Flight nurse Kristin McLain

It was a very emotional morning for Kristin McLain's co-workers and family. They lined up outside the Medical Examiner's Office to escort McLain's body to the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.

There were tears and hugs shared by first responders from several agencies. Air 1 from the Austin Police Department flew above the procession while motorcycle officers led the way to Lakeway.

46-year-old McLain fell from a helicopter's hoist Monday night during a rescue operation over the Barton Creek Greenbelt.

The NTSB started its investigation into the incident this morning. The investigator is in from Denver and will be focusing on three things: the individual, the aircraft and the environment during McLain's death. She was one of three people on the helicopter and served as the rescuer.

STAR Flight says this a painful time for the team and that McLain will be greatly missed.

An announcement about McLain's funeral arrangements is expected soon.

County officials are working to set up a press conference but it's not clear when that will happen.
