Round Rock Police introduce new K9 recruits
ROUND ROCK, Texas - The new officers joining the Round Rock Police Department have four legs.
The police department is introducing its newest K9 officers Karma and Harley.
Police say they picked up Karma and several other dogs from the Austin Animal Shelter last month to go through several tests.
They say Karma seemed to be the best fit for the department, and is a very quick learner.
Karma will be used mostly to sniff out drugs but might also be trained to track down missing people.
Karma is a lab mix. She joins Harley, a bull terrier mix. They live with their handlers. They'll train for four hours, four to five times a week until they are ready for duty
These two dogs may be a man or woman's best friend but one day they could end up saving a life
Karma and Harley will train for the next six months. Once they're certified, they'll join the other three dogs already on k9 patrol
