Salvation Army Angel Tree gifts given to families

Thousands of kids in Central Texas will have a Merry Christmas tanks to some of their fellow Texans.

The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program is distributing thousands of gifts to families. Things like clothes, toys, baby strollers and much more.

These are families living in Travis and Williamson Counties who can't afford Christmas gifts for their children. Most of the say they have just enough money for rent, gas and food.

People like Monica Hernandez who just had a baby girl eight days ago. She says having a program like Angel Tree makes Christmas possible for her family.

Families have until Friday (12/22) to pick the gifts up. FOX 7 Austin is a sponsor of the Angel Tree program.
