Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender arrested in Beaumont
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - A 52-year-old man who's been on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender list has been arrested in Beaumont.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says federal marshals apprehended Demus Lee Westmoreland Wednesday at a residence on Beaumont's west side.
Westmoreland was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and a probation violation and has been on the Most Wanted list since February after fleeing from his last known address in Galveston. His record includes a 2008 conviction for aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child after an incident involving a 6-year-old girl in Fort Bend County.
His arrest is the result of a tip and officials say a reward of up to $3,000 will be paid to the tipster.
