Two dead in southeast Travis County hit-and-run

Two people are dead after a hit-and-run crash off Highway 130 Thursday morning.

It happened just after 9:00 at the intersection of 130 and Pearce Lane in Southeastern Travis County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup was going eastbound on Pearce Lane when unknown vehicle ran the stop sign on SH 130 access road and it hit the pickup broadside, sending it into the grass. Investigators say the two males inside the truck died.

Investigators say the unknown vehicle likely has some front end damage due to the collision.

They want the public to keep their eyes open, and come forward if they saw this crash happen.

That section of SH 130 has an 80 mile per hour speed limit but this crash was on the frontage road at a stop sign. Investigators have not confirmed just how fast this unknown car was traveling but the result of that speed is two men are dead and no one stayed behind to help them.

They will not release names of the victims until family is notified.
