List of Central Texas school closures, changes due to winter weather

This type of weather is not something to take lightly.

Many school districts, colleges and universities have decided to make changes to their operations due to the inclement weather in Central Texas

The following schools and school districts have adjusted their operations due to winter weather:

Austin ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Austin International School will be closed tomorrow Friday, February 19

Bartlett ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19. There will be no remote learning. Face-to-face instruction is expected to resume Monday, February 22.

Bastrop ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Blanco ISD has canceled classes for Friday, February 19.

Burnet Consolidated ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Comfort ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Del Valle ISD says all schools and offices will remain closed through Friday, February 19.

Dime Box ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19. Due to connectivity issues no virtual learning, the campus will be closed.

Dripping Springs ISD is extending the district closure through the end of the week. All campuses will be closed for both in-person and remote learning on Friday, February 19. This applies to all events, activities, and the Child Development Center. 

Eanes ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Elgin ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19. Normal operations are expected to resume on Monday, February 22.

Flatonia ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Florence ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Georgetown ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Giddings ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Gonzales ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Granger ISD has canceled classes Thursday, February 18.

Hays CISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19. In-person learning for those who have selected that choice is expected to resume on Monday, February 22.

Hutto ISD has canceled classes through Friday, February 19. This includes virtual learning. 

Jarrell ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Johnson City ISD will remain closed Friday, February 19 for students and staff. School will resume as normal on Monday, February 22.

Killeen ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19 and is expected to resume Monday, February 22.

KIPP Texas - Austin has canceled classes Friday, February 19..

Lake Travis ISD will remain closed through Friday, February 19. As a result, all classes, activities and events are cancelled through Friday. This includes both in-person and remote learning for all students. Additionally, all schools and District offices will remain closed through Friday

Leander ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Lexington ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19. It expects to resume classes on Monday, February 22.

Liberty Hill ISD is canceling classes Friday, Feb. 19.

Llano ISD is cancelled Friday, February 19 due to weather and road conditions, water issues throughout the district, and lack of power and internet in many areas.

Lockhart ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19. All activities are canceled. All meal service is canceled.

Luling ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Manor ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Marble Falls ISD will be canceling classes and ALL school-related activities Friday, February 19. All activities scheduled for this weekend are also canceled.

McDade ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19..

New Braunfels Independent School District has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Pflugerville ISD has canceled classes Friday February 19. This includes virtual learning.

Rockdale ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Round Rock ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

San Marcos CISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Smithville ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Taylor ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Thrall ISD has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Texas School for Deaf has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired will remain closed for classes through Monday February 22. TSBVI students will travel back to campus on Monday, with classes resuming on Tuesday February 23. Staff and faculty will resume their normal work schedules beginning Sunday February 21 to prepare for returning students on Monday and resumption of classes on Tuesday.

Wimberley ISD has canceled school for Friday, February 19.

The following universities have adjusted their operations due to winter weather:

Austin Community College will remain closed through Sunday, February 21, due to ongoing severe winter weather and its impacts in our district. All classes and work — including in-person and remote — are canceled.

Baylor University to Hold Classes by Remote Instruction, Employees to Telework on Friday, Feb. 19.

Concordia University Texas has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

Huston-Tillotson has canceled classes Friday, February 19.

St Edward's University has canceled classes through Sunday, February 21.

Southwestern University in Georgetown has canceled classes through Sunday, February 21.

Texas State Technical College has canceled all classes for the remainder of the week. This applies to face-to-face and online classes.The earliest they intend to return to normal operations is Monday, Feb. 22.

Texas State University will be closed through 8 a.m. Saturday, February 20 due to inclement weather and continued power outages which have impacted multiple university systems, including phone lines and computer networks. All classes and events are canceled, including virtual/online classes and events. University offices will remain closed. Only designated critical personnel should report to work on the campuses. The university will continue to monitor weather and road conditions, and will announce the operational status of our campuses beyond 8 a.m. on Saturday no later than Friday, February 19 at 5 pm.

The University of Texas at Austin will be closed through Sunday, February 21. All classes/events canceled.

Texas road crews continue to monitor driving conditions

Crews have been in place since Wednesday night treating roads ahead of and during this winter weather advisory.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Central Texas until 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb 12. Residents in the area can expect blustery, rainy, and cold conditions across the area today.

Temperatures will remain nearly steady, with highs ranging from the lower 30s to lower 40s. North winds will be gusty from 15 to 25 mph. Some freezing rain may mix in with rain, especially across the Hill Country.
