Salado falls just short of 4A state title

The 30-11 Salado High School Eagles took on an Abilene Wylie bunch that had steam rolled through playoffs  including a 23-0 win in their opener.

As advertised, Wylie came out hitting with the Bulldogs putting up three runs in the first three frames.

Wylie's Mack Meuller, a Rice signee, had a no hitter going into the 6th but it was in that inning that Salado loaded the bases and Drew Dobbins drew a run scoring walk. Ryan Dunnahoo scored the first two runs but that's where it stopped.

Wylie beat Salado 3-2 to take the 4A title. The Eagles finish just short of the program's second state championship.
