Texas moves into AP top 10 after Red River Showdown win
The University of Texas moves into the top 10 of the latest Associated Press college football poll after its big win over the Oklahoma Sooners.
UT beat OU 48-45 in Dallas thanks to a game winning field goal from kicker Cameron Dicker. The Horns are 5-1 for the first time since 2009, 3-0 in the Big 12 and are riding a five game winning streak.
Texas jumped 10 spots to No. 9 and are in the top 10 for the first time since September 19, 2010 when they reached No. 7.
Alabama and Georgia remain Nos. 1 and 2 respectively while Ohio State, Clemson and Notre Dame round out the top 5.
Only two other Big 12 teams are ranked in the AP poll: West Virginia at No. 6 and Oklahoma which fell to No. 11 after its Red River Showdown loss.
Oklahoma State lost for a second time and dropped out of the top 25 again after just re-entering last week.
