APD alerting public of scam targeting ACL attendees

Austin Police Department is alerting the public of a new phone scam.

According to a Facebook post, APD has been getting alerts from ACL attendees who had reportedly gotten their phones stolen during the event. The victims are now getting messages on their new phones that are "possibly phishing attempts for their Apple ID and Apple password, presumably to unlock their stolen device." the post said.

APD is also reminding people to use caution whenever they receive a text message asking for personal information.
