APD: Woman believed to have been kidnapped near UT campus found safe
APD investigating kidnapping in West Campus
APD says a man forced a woman into his car at gunpoint. The police found the alleged victim a few hours ago.
AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department says a woman, believed to have been kidnapped near the University of Texas at Austin campus, was found safe.
The UT Police Department reported the kidnapping via Twitter at 8:32 p.m.
According to UTPD, the kidnapping happened at 24th Street and San Antonio.
UTPD says APD notified UTPD of the kidnapping at 8:05 p.m. when a Hispanic female was forced into a car at gunpoint. The suspect vehicle is described as a black sedan and the suspect is described as a Hispanic man wearing a red hoodie.
Austin police said the woman was found unharmed and the suspect has been identified. There is a good chance that the victim knew her kidnapper, according to the Austin Police Department.
No arrests have been made at this time.
