Astros and Texans provide meals to medical staff during COVID-19 outbreak

Local sports teams and players have been doing their part to support medical staff working hard during the pandemic to treat the sick and prevent coronavirus from spreading.


Deshaun Watson made two donations Friday to feed hundreds of Houston nurses and furloughed hospitality workers. He had 200 lunches delivered from Sticky's Chicken. Another 200 meals were delivered for the night shift on Friday night.

He also donated to the Restaurant Relief Workers Program at Riel to feed hundreds of hospitality workers who have lost their jobs. 

Alex Bregman and fiancee Reagan Howard donated meals to Methodist Hospital on Friday. 

The pair delivered food from The Moonshiners, consisting of "The Alex Bregman Brisket Grilled Cheese for the hospital staff.


355 pizzas were provided by the Texans for lunch on Thursday for staff members at the COVID-19 testing sites.

Lance McCullers Jr. and Carlos Correa sent Chipotle for lunch for 85 employees at Methodist Hospital.

"You guys are the real HEROES!" Correa posted on Instagram. "Working every single day in the front lines to help the victims of this terrible virus. We appreciate every one of you!"
