A person was rescued from a trash compactor dumpster in downtown Austin.
According to Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, multiple first responders are responding to reports of a person stuck inside a trash compactor dumpster in the 600 block of Congress Avenue around 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 8.
According to a witness who spoke to FOX 7, a person was sleeping in the trash compactor when a janitor threw something away. The dumpster began compacting the garbage and the person inside began to moan. The Austin Fire Department cut the side off of it to free the person.
According to ATCEMS, firefighters were able to extricate the man. He was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with potentially serious, not expected to be life-threatening, injuries.
According to paramedics, he was a man in his thirties.
