Austin PD public information manager, husband indicted for animal cruelty
AUSTIN, Texas - An Austin Police Department employee and her husband have been indicted on an animal cruelty charge for "failing to provide adequate medical care" to their dog over the summer.
Anna Sabana, APD's public information and marketing manager, and her husband Eduardo Gonzales were both indicted last week for third-degree cruelty to non-livestock animals. According to their attorney Doug O'Connell, they are trying to negotiate the charges be lowered to a misdemeanor, but won't know until they go to court sometime next year.

Sabana and Gonzales turned themselves in Monday morning and bond was set at $5,000 each. They were released on personal recognizance.

The indictment states that Sabana and Gonzales failed to provide adequate medical care to their dog Flash in August.
Sabana has been an employee of APD since 1999, says APD, and that her current employment status is pending review.
