Barton Creek Greenbelt closed again, more rain to come

The Barton Creek Greenbelt has been closed, again, due to additional rainfall and potential flash flooding over the next several days. Last night's rain raised Barton Creek's flow rate and further deteriorated trail conditions, according to the Austin Parks & Recreation Department.

The department is requesting that the public observe all posted signs and stay out of closed areas.

The Parks and Recreation Department went on to say that they will continue to monitor conditions throughout the greenbelt and may close additional pars and trails as needed. As we have explained on our FOX 7 WAPP, additional rain is forecast later this week which may necessitate a new closure.
