Central Texas blood bank makes urgent call for blood donations

AUSTIN, Texas - A Central Texas blood bank is facing a critical shortage and are at risk of a supply shortfall. 

We Are Blood is asking for donations in all Type-O blood, espically Type O Negative. "We Are Blood" is the sole provider of blood to more than 40 Central Texas Hospitals and medical facitilites. 

The blood bank has seen a spike in blood usage and transfusions over the past week due to multiple major tramua events and difficult surgeries. 

Type O Negative donors are especially important becuase they are the universal blood donor type for red blood cells.
