Changes for 2018 Austin City Limits Festival
The Austin City Limits Festival is back for its 17th year and has once again brought some of the biggest names in music to Texas. Officials wants to remind people though that are some big changes this year along with the usual traffic concerns.
Both Barton Springs and Stratford Drive will be completely shut down for the event. Additional detours will be posted and drivers are being encouraged to visit the city's transportation website regarding all street closures.
A free shuttle will pick up festival goers at Republic Square Park and drop them off outside the Barton Springs west entrance or you can try one of the many ride share options.
The biggest change is this year's bag policy. Bags will be restricted to small purses, totes and drawstring bags only with no more than one pocket or opening.
No liquids will be allowed through security checkpoints so you'll need to make sure your water bottles and hydration packs are empty.
The Austin Police Department says it's beefed up security efforts both around and inside Zilker Park but they say the most important thing is to be aware when enjoying the festival.
There's also a new parking location for bikes and scooters. That's located on Toomey Road at Sterzing Street and on Azie Morton Road.
You can get all information on the Austin City Limits Festival website.
But of course the weekend is all about the music and it's drawing people from all over with a variety of names mentioned when asked who they're most excited to see.
“I’m really excited for X Ambassador and the Wombats said Shelby Burgess from Austin.
"I want to see Phoenix that’s the main one obviously,” said Antonio Santoscoy from Brownsville.
Out of everyone FOX 7 Austin spoke to, there’s one name who kept popping up when asked who they came here to see: Paul McCartney.
