City of Austin looking for lifeguards

Looking to make a splash this summer? The City of Austin is holding its third lifeguard hiring event of the year.

Last summer, a shortage of lifeguards prevented some city pools from opening on time. Officials hope to stop that from happening this year by starting hiring efforts earlier.

Today's session kicks off at noon and runs until 4:00 p.m. at the Aquatic Administration and Training Facility.

Anyone older than 15 can apply. Salaries range from up to $10-$25 an hour.

There's a week long, 40-hour mandatory training course where lifeguards will be CPR and lifeguard certified.
