AUSTIN, Texas - A company that helps in recovery and restoration efforts due to damaging catastrophes is giving back to those who are on the front lines battling COVID-19 in Austin.
Cotton Global Disaster Solutions in partnership with the Cotton Foundation and Cotton Culinary delivered and served a total of 1,500 fresh lunches to staff at Dell Children's Medical Center, St. David's Medical Center and St. David's Medical Center South Austin from April 6-8.
Hunter Bell with the Cotton Foundation says it means a lot they can help the healthcare workers out because the workers are helping in a time of crisis and that's something Cotton GDS does as well.
Several local Austin companies like FitJoy, Kibo, Picklesmash, Waterloo and CLEAN Cause donated items to be given away as well.
Bell says he was overwhelmed when he saw the response from companies because he knows that it's a tough time for everyone and he says it was so great to see the community come together to help.
Ultimately, Bell says, it's about the healthcare workers and all the sacrifices and work they're doing to help save lives.
"Seeing a smile on their face even though you can't really see it because of the mask but you see it up it makes me happy inside," Bell says.
Bell says that they're looking into maybe doing a similar event elsewhere as well.
