Dog dies after being left outside in winter weather without food and water: WCSO

A dog is dead after being left in freezing temperatures without food or water, officials said. 

An investigation is now underway.

What we know:

According to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, on Jan. 21, an animal control officer responded to a home in Bartlett regarding reports of animal neglect.

The officer found two dogs without food or water in an open kennel. The temperature outside was below freezing, and one of the dogs had clear signs of medical distress.

Both animals were rescued by the officer, but one of the dogs died.

A necropsy was conducted, and the findings will be used as part of the ongoing investigation.
