Gov. Abbott on border discussions
What we know:
Gov. Abbott spoke to the media after Pres. Trump signed an executive order to keep biological men from competing in women's sports.
Abbott says he and the president discussed a number of topics about the border.
Topics included the border wall, Texas offering land in Starr County for deportation facilities and an offer of 4,000 state prison cells across Texas to house people who have been arrested during immigration efforts.
The governor said he also discussed his request for more than $11 billion from the federal government to reimburse Texas for its efforts to secure the border.
Abbott says he will be back in Washington next week to further discuss the effort.

The governor also said that since President Trump has been in office there has been a "total evaporation" of people crossing the border. Abbott says now the fight is against the cartels.
The governor also said he spoke with Trump Administration border czar Tom Homan about immigration enforcement strategies.
Earlier this week, Texas and Customs and Border Protection reached a deal to allow Texas National Guard members to make immigration arrests.
Under the deal, Texas National Guard troops would be able to arrest people in the country illegally as long as there is an U.S. immigration officer or Border Patrol agent present.
What we don't know:
Governor Abbott did not go into detail about where the state jail cells were, just that they were across Texas.
