DPS use tip to capture man on Texas Top 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender list

Update: DPS said they were tipped off and were able to capture John Wayne Stoneham in the Houston area Thursday.  Stoneham is currently in custody and the reward money of $5,000 will be rewarded said police. 

The Texas Department of Publish Safety (DPS) increased a cash reward up to $5,000 for any information leading up to the arrest of 49-year-old John Wayne Stoneham. 

Police said Stoneham is considered to be a high-risk sex offender. Police said he is wanted to for violating a parole violation and failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements. 

According to DPS Stoneham has been wanted since May 2017 and has ties to the Houston area.

In 1991, Stoneham was convicted in Harris County of burglary of habitation with intent to commit sexual assault.

According to police Stoneham has a prior criminal history which included indecency with a 13-year-old girl. 

Police describe Stoneham as being 5 foot 5 inches tall and weighing around 145 pounds. They said he has a significant scare near his eyes and his forehead, burn scars on his upper arms and a birthmark on the upper right side of his back. 

Police said Stoneham often uses alias names such as: Kevin Johnson and John Williams.
