Elgin, Smithville to hold mobile drive-through COVID-19 testing Tuesday

The cities of Elgin and Smithville will be hosting mobile drive-through COVID-19 testing sites on Tuesday, May 5.

Testing will be provided at no cost but will require an appointment. Appointments will be taken online on Monday, May 4 starting at 8 a.m. until all slots are filled.

The Texas Miltary Department will be administering a limited number of tests as part of a collaborative initiative between it, the Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas Division of Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Task Force, and the Hospital Preparedness Program Healthcare Coalitions.

To quality for testing, individuals will be screened online to see if they have any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever and/or Chills
  • Cough (Dry or Productive)
  • Fatigue
  • Body aches/Muscle or Joint Pain
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Sore Throat
  • Headaches
  • Nausea/Vomiting/Diarrhea
  • Nasal Congestion
  • Loss of Taste and/or Smell

Testing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following two locations:

  • Elgin Recreation Center – 361 State Hwy 95 North, Elgin
  • Household Hazardous Waste Facility – 109 Taylor Street, Smithville

Anyone seeking a test must be registered and have an appointment.
