AUSTIN, Texas - Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin issued a warning that the U.S. economy could suffer long-term damage if states extend lockdown to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

Mnuchin told the Senate Banking Committee that "there is the risk of permanent damage. We're conscious of the health issues and we want to do this in a safe way."
