LCRA partially opens one floodgate at Tom Miller Dam

The Lower Colorado River Authority partially opened one floodgate at the Tom Miller Dam on Wednesday afternoon to move floodwaters from Lake Travis downstream.

In a post on Twitter, LCRA announced that the floodgate would be partially opened at 4 p.m. The company also warned residents that water flowing downstream from the open floodgate will be fast and that water levels will be higher than usual. "Take action to protect people, property."

The NWS forecasts that, even with additional rain in the forecast and the planned releases from Tom Miller Dam, the Colorado River will remain below Action Stage at all locations. Flood operations are not anticipated at other dams at this time, according to the LCRA Flood Operations Page.
