Man arrested for BWI after striking Texas Game Warden boat on Lake Travis
AUSTIN, Texas - A man has been arrested for allegedly drunk boating after he struck a Texas Parks & Wildlife patrol boat on Lake Travis. Two game wardens and an intern were on the boat at the time and suffered minor injuries.
Officials say the wardens were wrapping up a day of enhanced patrols as part the national Fourth of July Operation Dry Water campaign when their boat was hit broadside near Mile Marker 16.
56-year-old Rodney G. Barefield was arrested at the scene and faces third degree felony boating while intoxicated charges.
Officials say Barefield has three prior convictions for BWI/DWI.
