Man witnesses road rage incident

An Austin man says he witnessed a violent case of road rage unfolding on Highway 71. It ended with a crash and two people being arrested.

The scrape marks are still visible along Highway 71 by the Manchaca exit.

Dennis Foley says on Friday night he was driving in the area when he says he witnessed a road rage incident.

"I first saw this silver SUV speeding up from behind me," said Foley. "And they had swerved around me and then within moments after that I saw a black sedan following in pursuit of this car and as they passed it looked like the black sedan was trying to run the SUV off the road."

He says it then appeared the SUV lost control causing it to crash into a car and come to a rest upside down.

"Just an explosion of glass and smoke and screeching tires and just as I was pulling out. I was expecting to see bodies all over the road frankly, but thank goodness that wasn't the case," said Foley.

Foley says even then the driver in pursuit kept going after the other driver.

"I saw this man run around the side and I was in utter disbelief because he started kicking the driver's side door and screaming 'I'm going to kill you, I'm going to kill you,'" said Foley.

Police identified that man as 23-year-old Aldrex Hill. He was arrested on traffic warrants that included expired registration, expired insurance, no driver's license and speeding.

25-year-old Stephanie Stone was behind the wheel of the SUV. Officers arrested her for DWI. Her breath alcohol test measured .13.

To hear that alcohol was involved, was pretty disturbing to Foley who says a drunk driver recently crashed into him.

"My heart is racing just thinking… that I could've been a victim as well," said Foley.

The person in the car that was rear-ended was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police do not appear to be pursuing additional charges against either driver at this time.
