NAACP President discusses officer-involved shooting

Austin NAACP President, Nelson Linder joins FOX 7's Rebecca Thomas to discuss the shooting involving Austin Police and an unarmed, naked teenager Monday morning in Northeast Austin.

Witnesses said the 18-year-old was naked and acting erratically and the officer did not use his taser or other weapons before opening fire.

The policy also says:

An officer is justified in using deadly force if the officer believes it is necessary to:

  • Protect himself or others from threat of death or serious bodily injury.
  • If the officer believes the subject has committed or intends to commit serious bodily injury or death, or:
  • The officer reasonably believes there is a threat of serious injury or death to others -- if the subject is not apprehended.
