Over 200 animals seized from Lockhart home

Over 200 animals have been seized from a residence in Lockhart, Texas, according the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office.
CCSO says the animals were seized due to unhealthy living conditions and lack of care. On Thursday deputies executed a search warrant at a residence on State Park Road and gathered enough evidence to remove the animals.
Approximately 261 live animals were removed from residence in total, according to authorities. Those included about 125 miniature pigs, 11 donkeys, approximately 30 chickens and roosters, 10 barn cats and about 56 other animals. CCSO says that prior to their search and seizure warrant, independent rescue organizations had already rescued about 29 dogs from the property.
For the time being, the sheriff's office is taking care of and housing the animals.
The investigation remains active.
