Public funeral held for 17-year-old killed in Austin bombings

A public funerals was held for the 17-year-old killed in the Austin package explosions.

Both 39-year-old Anthony Stephan House and 17-year-old Draylen Mason were fatally injured by package bombs placed on the front porches of their homes.

In some ways the 17-year-old already was a giant. His friends said he had a giant personality, a giant sense of humor and giant passion for music. “He exuded such passion and adoration for every note he played and he was the bass line, repeating bass line,” Cisneros-Acevedo said.

Four other victims were also injured in a series of explosions that shook the Austin community.

A package bomb exploded at an East Austin home on March 2, killing 39-year-old Anthony Stephan House. Then, on March 5, package bombs at two addresses in other parts of the city exploded, killing 17-year-old Draylen Mason, wounding his mother and injuring a 75 year-old Hispanic woman, identified on GoFundMe as Esperanza Hope Herrera. Mayor Steve Adler tweeted out Herrera suffered from two broken legs, a broken arm and two amputated fingers.
