Round Rock ISD named to second Lone Star Governance Exemplar Cohort
ROUND ROCK, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Round Rock ISD has been selected to be part of the second Lone Star Governance (LSG) Exemplar Cohort by Texas Commissioner of Education Mike Morath.
According to a release from the Texas Education Agency, the cohort is "designed for school board members and superintendents that aspire to leverage a continuous improvement mindset and framework in order to have the greatest impact on student performance and outcomes."
Round Rock ISD was selected along with Cumby ISD, Donna ISD, Fabens ISD, Hidalgo ISD, Natalia ISD, New Frontiers Public Schools and Snyder ISD.
According to the release, these governing teams have committed to a yearlong program which involves LSG training as well as access to coaching and technical support from certified LSG coaches.
Resources include a LSG workshop; monthly board, board chair, superintendent, and staff implementation support; quarterly self-evaluation support; quarterly cohort calls; statutorily required board member trainings; early access to upcoming LSG-related trainings; and collaboration with high-performing governing teams.
Cohort members also will be sharing their best practices and experience to help strengthen school governance statewide with presentations at various regional and state conferences.
