South Austin SWAT incident ends peacefully, man taken into custody

A man with felony warrants is now in Austin police custody after a SWAT incident in South Austin.

The incident began at around 6 p.m. on Feb. 20 when a private security officer, serving warrants from Hays and Bastrop Counties to a man, called police to a home near the 300 block of Craigmont Drive near South Congress Avenue. Officials say the man in his 20s was seen going into the home and did not leave. That's when the SWAT team was called to remove the man from the house.

Nearby residents were evacuated during the incident. After some time, the man was taken into custody.
