TCSO: Man assaults two men attempting to repossess his truck

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas - A Travis County man has been arrested after the Travis County Sheriff's Office says he assaulted two men with his fists and a gun while they were trying to repossess his truck.

Chauncy Jarrell Williams, 34, has been charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence.

Deputies were called to an apartment complex on Shoreline Drive in north Travis County for a disturbance with a handgun on Feb. 8. The two victims were attempting to repossess a Dodge Ram pickup when the owner, identified as Williams in an arrest affidavit, saw them and jumped over the entrance gate to confront them.

He started yelling and pushing one of the victims, who told his helper to call 9-1-1. After this, Williams reportedly sucker-punched the victim in the face. The other victim got inside the driver's seat of the truck and Williams jumped in, climbing over him and grabbing a silver handgun.

The affidavit says Williams shoved the handgun in the man's face, hitting just below the eye and forcing him out of the truck. Williams then tried to drive the truck off the tow truck, but it got stuck. One of the victims said Williams then had someone come out and take the gun and then ran off.

Deputies saw Williams at the back of the truck with the victims near the driver's side of the tow truck and tried to detain him, but he wanted to argue. Williams was eventually detained and put in the back of a patrol car, says the affidavit.

Deputies found a silver 9MM magazine in the bed of the truck but did not find a gun. Deputies spoke with Williams' girlfriend who took them back to their apartment and handed over the handgun, says the affidavit.

Deputies later learned Williams had handed the gun off to a 12-year-old who took it back home and put it on the dresser in the master bedroom, says the affidavit.

Williams was put in custody on a forgery warrant out of Williamson County.

Bond was set at $20,000.
