Bird causes power outage for thousands in Eastern Travis County area

Thousands of Bluebonnet Electric customers were impacted by a power outage Wednesday evening. 

The outage originated at Bluebonnet's substation serving 5,100 customers near Manor in the eastern Travis County area. At 7:25 p.m., crews and control center operators restored power to 1,700 members.

Bluebonnet announced that a bird was the cause of the outage at 8:10 p.m. 

The bird was removed from the electrical equipment, and power was restored to the remaining 3,400 customers in the area within the same hour.
