Viral social media video prompts recall of popular jarred peppers

A voluntary recall of a popular brand of peppers over a possible pest contaminant in the jar.
G. L. Mezzetta Inc. issued the recall after learning of a video circulating on social media tied to the potential contaminant and the company reached out to the consumer and initiated an investigation.

The company has not received reports of illness or injury related to the peppers and the recall only applies to a specific lot of the jarred peppers, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

G. L. Mezzetta Inc. said in the recall notice on the FDA’s website that it identified the consumers that received peppers from the recalled lot and are working with them to isolate and remove the affected product from sale.
