Wallaby found hopping around Dallas neighborhood returned to owner
DALLAS - A wallaby has been returned to its owner after being found wandering around Dallas Wednesday morning.
The 3 1/2 foot exotic pet lives in a 40-acre ranch north of Dallas, but was in town visiting with its owner.
The wallaby was spending time in a fenced-in yard, but managed to get out through a small gap.
After getting out, the wallaby was spotted in Lakewood, before being picked up by Dallas Animal Services.
Its owner came to pick up the wallaby a short time later.
Dallas Animal Services confirmed that it is illegal to own a wallaby in the city of Dallas without a permit.
