The election was originally scheduled for May 26, but it has been postponed "in conjunction with the state's ongoing efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19," says a release from the governor's office.

So far, the coronavirus outbreak has lead to the closures of multiple major Texas festivals, including Rodeo Austin and SXSW, which faced its first cancellation in its 34-year history. 

These actions will allow pharmacists to conduct consultations by phone and remove regulatory barriers so pharmacies can operate at full strength, says the Governor's office.

Texas Senator John Cornyn also warned people about scammers calling people promising free COVID-19 testing.

Texas small businesses who believe they may be eligible for loans should visit the SBA's website where they can directly apply for assistance. The online application is the fastest method to receive a decision about loan eligibility. 

The PSA encourages Texans across the state to practice social distancing by staying home in order to reduce the spread of CVOID-19. 

Even though students will not physically be able to enter campuses until then, schools in Texas still intend on providing the same services as before, including an education and, if necessary, a meal.

This is the first public health disaster declared in Texas since 1901.

This follows the suspension of certain provisions of the Texas Transportation Code to delay the expiration date for driver licenses, commercial driver licenses, and other identification documents. 

According to a release from the governor's office, the waiver allows restaurants to deliver alcoholic beverages, including beer, wine, and mixed drinks, with food purchases to customers. 

The proclamation suspends provisions of the Texas Election Code to allow local governments to postpone their May 2 elections until November.

MealFinder, a searchable online map that will include the address of each facility, as well as days and times meals will be served, is scheduled to roll out on March 20.
