How you can help Austin flood victims

As the rain fell on Oct. 30, non-profits soon realized the storm was more than just a shower. Non-profit organizations around Central Texas jumped into action to help victims.

Jessica Venson is the director of client services for the United Way of Greater Austin. UWATX is helping to organize volunteers. The city and county are also teaming up to open a Volunteer Resource Center, where people can check in and get assignments. Volunteers who are bilingual are needed.

The VRC is at Crossroads Christian House of Prayer at 5201 East William Cannon Drive. The center is open from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday and reopens Monday at 8 a.m.
