Local VR company & Alamo Drafthouse team up for 'Ready Player One'

The highly anticipated Steven Spielberg film "Ready Player One" hit theaters and to celebrate a local VR company and Alamo Drafthouse teamed up to do something special.

The film is based off a popular book written by author Ernest Cline, who lives in Austin.

The Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar and VirtualRealityRental.co helped bring the virtual "Ready Player One" world called the Oasis to life.

Participants got to experience what it was like to fight a battle all in the safety of the theater's lobby.

The VR experience was similar to another "Ready Player One" event that took over Brazos Hall during SXSW which is also when the film had its world premiere.

Alamo Drafthouse also hosted a "Ready Player One" Easter egg hunt. For more information about upcoming events at all the Drafthouse locations you can go here.
