17-year-old arrested for terrorist threat on Snapchat

A 17-year-old has been arrested for making a terrorist threat on Snapchat. 

Holden Cooper Smith was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat by TCSO. 

According to the Travis County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a call on Thursday, April 19, 2018 regarding a picture on Snapchat from a person what was believed to be a student at the Westlake High School. Several students were in fear that someone was going to come and shoot up the school. 

 The Snapchat picture was posted on the app on Wednesday, April 18. 

It was a picture of a broken down assault rifle inside a backpack with the caption, "Ready for school."

Deputies with the Travis County Sheriff's Office were able to identify 17-year-old Holden Cooper Smith as the individual who had posted the picture on the social media app. 

Holden told deputies that he had posted the image as a joke and did not mean anything by it. 

He was taken into custody and transported to central booking at the Travis County Jail.
