19th Annual Empty Bowl Project

For 19 years the City of Austin has fought to end childhood hunger. Over the course of that time, organizers of the Empty Bowl Project have received help not only from the community but also beyond.

"The first year we had like 400 bowls and this year we've got over 4,000 bowls." Hester Weigand, co-director of the Austin Empty Bowl Project said. "So it's gotten a little bit bigger, the first year there were a couple hundred people that came and this year we expect over 2,000"

The yearly event features over 300 volunteers including many from the FOX 7 team all doing their part to help the cause.
