2 dead after crash involving bus, multiple vehicles in Walker County

Authorities say two people are dead after a crash involving a charter bus and at least three vehicles on I-45 near FM 1375 in Walker County.

It all starts with reports of a reckless driver heading northbound on I-45 in Walker County.

"Lost control, went into the southbound lanes, striking another passenger car and a charter bus," said DPS Sergeant Erik Burse.

"I said ‘maybe they're just veering over’ then my brain clicked. You don't veer over from the left side of the road," said Jazmine Jones. "The next thing you know, it went airborne and hit the back of my car. It just missed the driver’s door. I'm blessed to make it out of it."

The driver of the red SUV hit the front of a Megabus with 75 passengers on board.

"Everybody was bracing themselves for it. It happened really, really fast," said bus passenger Kenneth Tran.

The impact of the crash caused the bus traveling from Dallas to Houston to tilt, but no passengers were injured.

"We thought we were going to flip, but thank God the bus driver knew what he was doing," Tran said.

DPS troopers say the driver of the red SUV that caused all of this died at the scene.

His SUV ended up on top of another vehicle. The 51-year-old Alvin woman driving it died at a hospital.

"I could have been a bad outcome, but God allowed me to be here," Jones said.
