2 suspects arrested in shooting of 3-year-old boy at Houston park

HOUSTON (FOX 26) — Police say two suspects have been arrested in connection to the shooting of a three-year-old boy at a Houston park last week.

Leonard Butler, 25, and Mark Wakefield, 26, are both charged with aggravated assault and injury to a child.

The shooting occured in the parking lot of a park on Haviland Street around 5:20 p.m. March 30.

Police say the boy and his mother were in their vehicle when shots were fired into the air by individuals in a silver car. Police say suspects standing in the area of the child's vehicle fired at the silver car as it fled and multiple rounds struck the victim's car.

The boy was taken to the hospital with two gunshot wounds. Chief Art Acevedo said on Friday that the boy has been released from the hosptial and doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
