A Southeast Austin home is a complete loss after fire

Firefighters battled a house fire in Southeast Austin Tuesday night that resulted in the displacement of a family right before the Christmas holiday.  

According to the Austin Fire Department it happened around 7 p.m., firefighters were called to 1200 block of Begonia Terrace.

The family of six including four dogs were able to escape the home safely.  No injuries were reported. 

Fire officials said the damages are estimated at $100,000 and reportedly a complete loss. 

Austin Fire Department have ruled the cause of the fire as an accidental electrical short. 

The family is staying with relatives.
